Community

Centacare provides wellbeing support to the rural and regional communities in our region.

Centacare also operates the Central West Family Law Pathways Network to enhance skills, knowledge, and collaboration among professionals assisting families going through separation.

Aged Care Visitors Scheme

The Aged Care Visitors Scheme provides trained and friendly volunteer visitors to older people in our community at risk of social isolation in local Aged Care Facilities across our region. Centacare is always looking for volunteers to take up this worthwhile and rewarding role. We provide the connection, training and ongoing support.

Do you have a few spare hours a month and would like to provide companionship to someone in aged care – you can chat about the weather, read books, play cards or just share stories together. Does this sound like you?

Community Outreach Wellbeing Support (COWS)

We are committed to supporting our rural communities through adversity, such as drought, floods, bushfires and mice with services, wellbeing events and referral pathways. One example is our yearly commitment to bring our counselling team to the local Agricultural Shows in the Warrumbungle, Gilgandra and Coonamble Shires.

Central West Family Law Pathways Network

Family Law Pathways Networks a national network for professionals working with families who are separating, or have separated. It is funded by the Attorney-General’s Department and managed by a local steering committee which draws expertise across government, non-government and legal organisations.

The Network is the primary organisation bringing together all public, community and private service providers, including the Family Law Judiciary, Family Relationship Service providers, Therapists, Private Legal Practitioners and Mediators, Legal Aid NSW, services in the Family and Domestic Violence, ATSI, and mental health sectors, and Community Legal Centres. A Project Officer is employed to coordinate the day to day operations of the Network.

Central West NSW covers a large area of central NSW from Lithgow in the east, Dubbo in the west, Mudgee in the north and Cowra in the south. It is the purpose of the CNSW FLPN to create awareness of all the resources that are available within the region for those who are making their way through the family law system.

We aim to:
  • To create and maintain a platform for those working within the broad sector of Family Law to come together to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  • To develop, maintain and share resources.
  • To provide multi- disciplinary training and professional development opportunities.
